GENOMICS OF THE BRAZILIAN BIODIVERSITY
The Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB) project is led by the Vale Institute of Technology and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation. More than 300 researchers from national and international institutions such as the University of São Paulo, the Federal University of Pará and the University of Oxford in the UK are taking part in it, as well as hundreds of organizations such as Ibama and Fiocruz.

Consortium brings together hundreds of researchers to map genomes of Brazilian species
The Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB) scientific consortium is the result of a public-private partnership between the Vale Institute of Technology (ITV) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). The initiative aims to generate unprecedented genomes for Brazilian biodiversity and provide important information for conservation and the development of the bioeconomy.

Scientific consortium investigates DNA traces in Brazilian ecosystems to monitor and conserve species
The Metabarcoding Environmental DNA technique makes it possible to identify multiple species using soil, water or even air samples. This is one of the tools used by the Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB) scientific consortium, a partnership between the Vale Institute of Technology (ITV) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

Genomic study could improve management and conservation efforts for the pirarucu, an important species in the Amazon bioeconomy
A partnership between ITV and ICMBio, the Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB) scientific consortium aims to improve sustainable fishing by genomically sequencing the species. Among the possibilities are the creation of certificates of origin and the protection of genetically eroded populations.

Genetic sequencing will guide action plans for species at risk
From rare birds to small amphibians, studies help define priorities such as habitat protection and breeding strategies. Data are produced through the Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB) scientific consortium, a partnership between the Vale Technological Institute (ITV) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

Revealed codes: Brazilian genomic bank makes biodiversity DNA more accessible
By compiling and sharing genomic data on biodiversity, the Brazilian Species Genomic Reference Bank (GenRefBR) strengthens national scientific research and reduces dependence on international repositories. The knowledge generated from this information can pave the way for more effective public policies aimed at conservation and the development of the bioeconomy.
